MINUTES/NOTES –
MIDWEST 305 SPRINT CARS
April 11, 2010
Story City, Iowa
The Midwest 305
Sprint cars board meeting was held April 11, 2010 at Story City Happy
Chef. The meeting was called to order by President Bob Hildreth at
2:00 p.m.
Members Present:
Mark Ferguson,
David Sporaa, Earl Tice, Keith Carlberg, Mark Aaron, Derek Cink, Daryl
Arend, Mick Fishel, Bob Hildreth, Shad Sporaa.
Dave Sporaa read
the minutes from the last meeting. Keith Carlberg moved for approval,
which was seconded by Dave Sporaa.
Shad Sporaa gave
the Treasurer’s report. There was $1,327.07 in the account. No new
claims were submitted. Matt Stephenson will take care of filing the
Biennial Report by April 15 and submit the expense next month.
Old Business:
Mark Ferguson
talked about the 100 years of racing celebration in Webster City on
July 3. The event will be called “100 Years of Horse Power” and will
be a day- long celebration at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds, ending
with races and fireworks that night. During the daytime there will be
race cars on display, along with drivers signing autographs. Since the
group will be racing there that evening, Mark asked if anyone would be
able to bring their cars early for display. Earl Tice will look into
bring a vintage sprint car that day as well. If anyone has any other
ideas for this event, please see Mark Ferguson. He will keep the group
informed as the date nears.
New Business:
We have two new
races scheduled, May 7 at Spencer, and August 19 at Britt. These two
shows will be point’s races and both pay $700 to win. The Marshalltown
date is still not confirmed, but pending. Dennison has expressed
interest in a race on July 22. Bob Hildreth will send out payout
information to them.
Bob stated that he
has received questions about our rules regarding the use of a dry sump
system. Our rules state that a wet sump system must be used and the
group agreed that we will not deviate from them. A car with a dry
sump, will not be allowed to race with us.
Dave Sporaa had a
question about a person having one car and two drivers. Would the car
owner have to pay for two memberships? The group concurred, that the
points go with the driver, not the car. Both drivers would need to pay
membership in order to race.
Due to racing
season beginning, the next meetings will be held in the pit area
during an event. It was decided that the next meeting will be May 7 at
Spencer.
A motion to adjourn
was made by Shad Sporaa and seconded by Mark Aaron.
Meeting adjourned
at 2:45 p.m.
